The Winter Cobbler
2 oz. bourbon
1 oz. dry sherry
2 oz. cooked cranberries
1 oz. cranberry simple syrup (recipe below)
Orange and lemon slices
Tools: shaker
Glass: tumbler or rocks glass
Garnish: fresh cranberries (optional)
Combine the bourbon, sherry, cooked cranberries, cranberry syrup, and a handful of orange and lemon slices in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously. Pour everything, fruit, ice and all, into a glass. Garnish.
For the cranberry simple syrup: Combine 1 cup of cranberries, 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 cup of granulated sugar in a saucepan and gently simmer until the cranberries start to burst apart, about 10 minutes. Strain out the cranberries and reserve both the cooked berries and the syrup until use.
