Drink of the Week: Slate Coffee Roasters Kenya Gaturiri AB
The Pacific Northwest, coffee-obsessed? Maybe just a
little. From its bootstrap beginnings back in the early 1970s to today’s fully entrenched
coffee culture, the PacNW bean scene is better than ever. And today’s Drink of
the Week—the Kenya Gaturiri from Seattle’s Slate Coffee Roasters—is one of our
favorites from the region. Helmed by two of the area’s top industry pros, Slate
roasts select lots from some of the world’s best coffee farms and co-ops. This high-elevation
Kenyan is slowly fermented before being dried on raised beds, yielding a bright,
fresh cup with fruit-forward flavors of tart cherries, candied pineapple and melon.
