Bushwick Pumpkin
1½ oz. gin
½ oz. grapefruit liqueur
½ oz. simple syrup (1:1)
1 oz. fresh lemon juice
barspoon spiced pumpkin jam (see below)
Tools: shaker tin, strainer
Glass: rocks
Garnish: mint sprig
Spiced Pumpkin Jam
1 15-oz. can pumpkin
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 cup sugar
4 lemons, thinly sliced
4 oranges, thinly sliced
Combine the pumpkin with nutmeg, sugar, lemons and oranges. Cover with parchment paper and let the mixture sit overnight in the fridge. The following day, transfer the mixture to a pot and bring to a boil. Turn the heat to medium, and simmer, stirring frequently, for about 45 minutes. Allow the mixture to cool, and store in the refrigerator until use. The finished jam will keep, refrigerated, for about 2 months.
